Boca Juniors appear to be starting up a potential transfer which could bring Carlos Tevez back to Argentina. There have been several rumours that the former Manchester City and Juventus forward may be back to Boca Juniors much sooner than expected. He is currently with Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua, who have spent an extravagant sum of money in order to bring the player to the Chinese Super League. The 33-year-old is reportedly being paid around the £ 650,000 per week – one of the highest in the world – in order to play for the little-known Chinese club.

However, Tevez has had an extraordinarily poor impact at the club and the league. He has struggled for form throughout his time in China, and there have been noises about the player being unable to settle in this new environment. More worryingly, Boca Juniors president Daniel Angelici claims that Shanghai Shenhua are yet to make the payments for the transfer of Tevez. Even though the 33-year-old is earning a whopping sum of money each week, the club were able to agree only a € 16 million transfer fee for the player. Angelici says that Boca Juniors have now demanding the full payment for the transfer or threaten to go in a legal route.

Borussia Dortmund surprisingly struggling

Borussia Dortmund have been surprise strugglers in the top five European leagues this season. The team that won the Bundesliga title twice in a row only a few years ago has been dismantled completely after the departure of players like Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze in subsequent summers. The team even reached the Champions League final a few years ago. In order to reclaim the glory days, the club invested more than € 50 million on several new players in the summer. It appears that the presence of many new players has worked to the detriment of the team.

They have managed just two wins from the opening seven matches of the season. As a result, they sit 13th in the table – just a few places above the relegation zone. Jurgen Klopp has been one of the standout managers in the last few years. He has been able to work wonders with the Dortmund team despite being on a limited budget. He has also turned down several offers to manage top teams during this period. There has been speculation that he may finally decide to leave Dortmund after being in charge for more than five years.

Dortmund CEO Hans Joachim-Watzke says that the performances of the team will start to improve and that this is only a temporary blip. “It is obvious that some players have reached their limit. This is understandable, they are not machines. Jurgen Klopp is absolutely the right man for Dortmund,” said Chief Executive. Captain Mats Hummels was also quick to back the manager during these troubled times. “There are always times in a season where form dips. We’re not going to go crazy about it,” said the defender. Still, the club has been doing well in the Champions League campaign and are now favourites to progress to the knockout stages as winners.

Benzema Brings end to drought

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema finally brought an end to his goal drought by scoring in the 5-1 win over FC Basel in the Champions League. The French international has not scored in the last four matches for club and country. His last goal came in the opening league match against Córdoba when his goal earned his team a 2-0 win. It also remains as the only victory that the club has tasted in the league this season. The poor start to the campaign continued after a 2-1 defeat against Atletico Madrid during the weekend. Madrid finally managed to find some form after beating Basel by a convincing score.

After the match, Benzema tried to deflect the situation away from his goal by saying that three points was more important than ending goal drought. Manager Carlo Ancelotti, though, will be worried about his team’s inability to keep a clean sheet against a poor Basel team, who did not have much of the ball throughout the 90 minutes. Real Madrid have now not kept a clean sheet in the last three matches. As a result, the club already find themselves six points behind leaders Barcelona after just three matches in the season. The goal scored by Benzema was a monumental occasion as it also was the club’s 1000th goal in European competitions.

“I’m very happy that I scored, but the win was the most important thing. I think it was a really good match and with a lot of goals too. It has been a slightly difficult week, but getting the win and scoring five goals stands us in good stead. We’ve made a very good start to the Champions League. First match, first victory and it was important to win at home. This victory is good for everyone. Scoring is important, but playing with my team-mates is more important,” said Benzema.

Cudrado Admits Barcelona Aproached Him

The representative of the Colombian winger Juan Guillermo Cuadrado has admitted that Barcelona had approached him some time back asking about the availability of the player.

Cuadrado emerged as an absolute superstar in the recently completed World Cup which happened in Brazil. He found the back of the net once for Colombia, while, assisted a few times as well. After that, some big clubs have been reported to be willing to secure his services.

When asked which of the clubs have tried to get in touch with him since the World Cup, Cuadrado’s representative said, “Barca and a couple more have enquired if my client is up for sale or not, but, nothing official thereafter.”

“However, I would like to clarify a few other things. My client’s as well as my personal relationship with Fiorentina is quite healthy and if we have to part ways or bring any sort of negotiations in the current deal of Cuadrado, we would do that in an appropriate manner so that both the parties feel satisfied.”

As per the current deal that Cuadrado has with Fiorentina, he would stay at the club for 3 more years i.e. till the summer of 2017.

The 26-year Old winger had arrived at Stadio Artemio Franchi in 2012. He had been playing for the Italian club Udinese before that.

In the couple of seasons that Cuadrado has spent at Fiorentina, he has made 60 odd league appearances scoring 16 goals.

Some reports in the English media suggest that Manchester United is another club apart from Barcelona which is looking to buy Cuadrado.

Manchester United’s willingness to go for Cuadrado is not surprising actually. Their new boss Louis Van Gaal is believed to be pretty keen to boost his attacking line up.

Francesco Totti’s career has seen the Italian forward making over 600 appearances for As.Roma as he made his first appearance for Roma’s senior side at the age of 16.

21 years later and Totti continues making consistent performances for As.Roma but he is reaching the end of his career and the president of the club James Pallota has outlines his plans to retire Totti’s number 10 jersey when the veteran attacker decides to retire.

”It would be great to be able to replicate players like him, De Rossi and Florenzi. In Boston we had Larry Bird, we had Paul Pierce, and it was very difficult to decide to sell him, but it was good for the team,” Pallotta told Sky Sport 24.

”I’d like to have players who spend 10-15 years in the squad. When Francesco stops we will retire the number 10 jersey, there is no doubt his farewell won’t last just an hour either, it will be at least a month.” Pallota added on.

As.Roma is located in the 2nd spot of the Italian League, Serie A with the table- toppers Juventus leading the way. The squad of Rudi Garcia initiated the season on a high note as they went undefeated during the opening 17 matches until they faced off against Juventus on January 5 and suffered a 3-0 defeat.

Rudi Garcia and his players continue rampaging past just about everyone in their path but at this point in time it seems like they will have to settle with a 2nd place finish in the season as Juventus are favorites on winning the league for the 3rd consecutive year.

Even with his 37 years of age, Totti remains being a crucial player for As.Roma as he is one of the top goal-scorers for the Italian club in this season along with Mattia Destro and Gervinho.

Tim Sherwood was extremely disappointed after his Tottenham team were defeated 4-0 by rivals Chelsea in a recent match at the Bridge. The two sides had drawn the reverse fixture 1-1 at White Hart Lane earlier in the season, but this encounter was more one-sided. Tottenham put up a brave fight in the first half and dominated the match, but they were unable to keep up with Chelsea once they brought on Oscar in the second half. The Brazilian was brought on as a replacement for Frank Lampard at half-time.

He provided a massive boost to Chelsea, as they started dominating almost immediately. The opening goal came as a result of an error from Jan Vertonghen, whose intended backpass to the goalkeeper was intercepted by Samuel Eto’o. The Cameroon international pounced to score the opening goal, while he helped the club win a penalty minutes later. Younes Kaboul was also sent off for trying to prevent a goalscoring opportunity. Eden Hazard converted the penalty, while Demba Ba added two quick goals near the end of the match.

Sherwood was extremely downbeat in his postmatch interview, as he said that the players lacked a fighting spirit needed to stay at the top against a club like Chelsea. He also dismissed the chances of Tottenham finishing in the top four this season.

“Obviously, the first goal anyone can slip, and it’s a bad error. The second one, the penalty and the sending-off has gone against us, unfortunately. The game’s over after that. It still doesn’t legislate for the capitulation. A lack of characters. Too many of them are too nice to each other. We need to show a bit more guts and not want to be someone’s mate all the time. It can’t always be me,” said the Tottenham boss, whose job is now under jeopardy.

“Xabi Alonso is also extremely important for the team. He is the puppet master in midfield, a kind of conductor. But there are also many other great personalities such as Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos’’. Raul said.

Even Iker Casillas recently spoke out about Real Madrid being hungry not only on winning the league title but also on securing the treble.

“I want to have heard at the end of the season that Real Madrid have won the first treble of their history,” Casillas told Marca.

Even though the Spanish goalkeeper has barely played any matches in this season for Real Madrid, he still wants the club to win all 3 trophies in this season.
